I Like Bananas
I was born in Innisfail, Alberta Canada
and raised ten
minutes away in a town called Red Deer. I was five,
red deer were running rampant through out the city
causing the citizens to go mad. I escaped the Cervidae
terror by scribbling images of Spiderman, Batman
and
Superman within "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas".
** I wanted superheroes to come and save the day
!! **
I guess what I really wanted ... was to scribble
scribble.
Aside from my art, I am enthused in martial arts
training,
playing in the white winter and frolics through
the wilder-
ness. Comics and Leonardo da Vinci are my greatest
art
influences- both inherit the ability to artistically
commun-
icate inspiring, technical, intelligent and abstract
ideas
through their work.
In my work, I try to express ideas through dramatic
humour.
Baroque period art involved all levels of society,
sharing
emotional experiences through themes expressing
union
between martyr or worshiper (Catholic or Protestant
alike),
with the Divine...invoking hope. Baroque artists
maximized
this effect through theatrical visuals within their
settings,
subjects, space and lighting, catering to the needs
of the
people instead of their institutions. In the wake
of today's
social events, I believe there is hope and will
try to provide
what the Baroque artists did for their era within
my work.
